Santa Says ‘Just Skip Church’ in Atheists’ Holiday Billboards

Cranford, NJ—Continuing a holiday season tradition, American Atheists has launched a series of billboards in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area and in Colorado Springs, Colorado featuring Santa Claus urging viewers to go ahead and skip church and simply be good for goodness’ sake.

“We want people to know that going to church has absolutely nothing to do with being a good person,” said David Silverman, president of American Atheists. “The things that are most important during the holiday season—spending time with loved ones, charity, and being merry—have nothing to do with religion.”

“Last year’s billboard showed a child writing a letter to Santa, telling him that all she wanted for Christmas was to skip church. This year, Santa wrote back,” Silverman added.

With nearly a quarter of Americans claiming no religious affiliation, this year’s holiday billboard is designed to reach the millions of people who still attend church occasionally and call themselves religious, but have doubts about their beliefs.

“It is important for these folks who are on the fence about their beliefs to know that they can take that first big step and leave church,” said Nick Fish, national program director of American Atheists. “There are tens of millions of atheists in this country. We’re everywhere. And we don’t need church or gods to tell us how to be good people.”

The billboards will run through the month of December.

    Excellent!!! A great message!!

  • suzeb1964

Love it! Waiting for Fox News to have a collective freak-out about these.

  • SeaVHfan

Can we get a Larger picture of the one above? I’d like to add that to my FB page. Thanks

    • Krystal M

and I want to pin it on Pinterest

      • xtheoldman

        Me, too!

  • The Atheist Cowboy

Yea!!! You put one in Colorado Springs!!!! Thank you!

  • Diana C Keever

Big waste of money and effort! I am an agnostic. I do secular Christmas. I do not feel like it is my business whether others attend church at Christmas or not. And it is certainly not my job to dictate to them whether they should go to church or not. While I understand and agree that you don’t need religion to be a good person, I feel that crusading atheists are just as bad as crusading Christians. Bah humbug.

    • Adjel

While atheists and nonbelievers (as well as those on the fence) are still in the minority, they need to be reassured they can be good without god — or at least good without church — and this is a pretty passive (and humorous) gentle reminder to get that message across. Or would you prefer we stay in the shadows and “closets,” like we’ve been for thousands of years, and let Christianity, or religions in general, eventually completely take over the world? Someone has to keep religion in check, lest we find ourselves lined up and shot for nonbelief or nonconformity sometime down the future road, like in some other places right now.

      • Diana C Keever

Atheists are so *not* in the shadows. I’m married to an atheist and my son is an atheist, BTW. My point is that atheists don’t need to use the same kind of tactics that fundamentalist Christians do, such as using billboards, is only going to create more opposition and bring on rightwing accusations of “recruitment”. People aren’t going to “get” the message. They are going to misinterpret it as “war on Christmas” because that is easier for them than having to stop and think about the real message. I am just being a realist.

        • Fart Hippo

Unfortunately I grew up in an all-Christian family/school/county and in a predominantly Christian state/nation. I 100% could’ve used this helpful reminder when I was having doubts about the truth of religion. And yes, atheists are still very much in the shadows/hiding in closets. Just because there is openness in your family, or area of the world (lucky you, BTW 🙂 ), it is not the case on a national/worldwide scale. Public promotion of reason and the rejection of myth is and always will be a good thing.

          • DianeCK

I have plenty of experience with trying to talk reasonably with religious believers of many sorts, and I have pretty much given up on trying to convince them that there is any other POV besides theirs. If you think it helps, I’m wrong, it isn’t a waste of time & money, so just go for it. All of you, just go for it, but don’t be shocked if it doesnt really help as much as you think it will.

          • Ameretsu

Honestly, as a kid, there were no atheists, there were people going to hell and people going to heaven, and if you weren’t in church you weren’t the ones going to heaven so I agree, I really could have used this sign as a kid or even a teenager when I knew I really didn’t believe in god but it made me feel like a good person to sit in church and know the people around me accepted me even if it was a lie. As a teen I learned what atheism meant to me, it meant most of my family would be disappointed in me, that they would look down on me, that I would be a source of guilt and shame on them. My mother started crying the last time I asked her why it bothered her so much that I was atheist and between sobs she said because she knew what was going to happen to my soul and she was terrified for me.

          • bookman

Your mother is right, and wise, learn from her.

          • smeddy

No, she really isn’t. “She knew what was going to happen to my soul”?
If Ameretsu is an axe murderer, then I also worry. If she’s a decent, caring, humble member of society, then the shackles of superstition are embarrassing.

          • bookman

Ah, but you don’t know… Mom on the other hand, knows Ameretsu well.

        • Adjel

The rightwing will cry foul and “war on Christmas” no matter what atheists do, unless they keep completely quiet, like they’ve been, until recently. More and more atheists and “nones” are popping up because we are standing up and speaking up. This encourages more to do so. So yes, a billboard helps. And opposition is *exactly* what we need to create, or just be taken over. Just because your family is not in the shadows does not mean that there aren’t many who still are. We are coming more and more into the light, and I, for one, have no intentions of going back into the dark.

        • SiteNook

I’m OK with a “War on Christmas”. If there is one thing we’ve learned it’s that all advertising is Good Advertising, as long as they spell the name right.
If faux-news wants to bring up the subject of how millions of Americans are Atheist and are trying to tear down the Church, some might be getting that Good News for the first time. They may not have realized that there were other people like them, who saw through the bullshit claptrap. It may be their first exposure to ideas critical of Religion in their own living room, and the reaction of those around them may give them new insight.

          • Gsurfah

            Oh AMEN BROTHER! 😉 hahaha
I would love to see news like that spread to Hawaii where I live- I completely have to keep my atheist view about superstition to myself because everyone in these islands seems to Christian- (though I hear so much complaints about how the Haole, the missionaries, stole their islands from them) I probably wouldn’t get run out of town physically but I’m self employed and I remodel these people’s homes- I think I would be the least busy carpenter on island if I voiced my beliefs- or criticized anyone’s belief in “fairy tales”. So ya it’s the shadows for me… I don’t even have people to discuss my frustrations with so I read blogs online from atheist sites to know there are more out there, infact reading this news of the billboards made my whole Xmas more joyful 🙂 I wish they would put one up in Hawaii- I bet it would get torn down over night… What would Jesus do right? LOL.

          • Alice

And it beats referring to a delusional belief in god as mental illness.

          • scottamus

Dude, I’m with you man. I’m a self employed tattoo artist / atheist that has to choke down my beliefs to stay in business. A lot of people want to get crosses tattooed on them (which is a torture device) and while I’m doing it, I tell them about how Moses committed genocide and mas rape. Also the story of Job and such. It makes me feel better about doing the tattoo that I have educated a blind follower a little, but it also guarantees they won’t come back for more tattoos. I am a christian hater that is struggling to find a way to turn my hate into pity or understanding. It’s just so difficult when I operate in a small town with a really low education level. I only have 4 years of college behind me and I feel like I’m the only one for miles that can think out of the box.

          • Gsurfah

Yep- are u a member of American atheists? Joining them has helped me not only because I did donate $50 to the cause (u don’t have to give $ I do cause they get politically involved where I cannot even open my mouth) but just reading their news about the action they are taking makes me feel good that people (atheists) are doing something

    • Merv99

When we were silent, we lost every battle by default. The only reason for our recent modest success is that we started to speak up more often.

      • DianeCK

        see above reply.

        • prinefan

          Being normal is not crusading.

      • Jerrold Gilbert

This is the smartest & most accurate comment posted here!

    • edwords

Santa doesn’t ‘dictate’ on the sign; they can do what they want.

Just a little push back for religion’s intrusion into our government and schools.

    • GeorgeM

And I say AMEN to that. I find it intellectually offensive to even perpetrate the idea that an “institutionalized” form of “Atheism” (for lack of a better word, and there are many) thinks it’s OK to speak for anyone, much less for people who are not expecting to be “spoken for.” I really don’t need institutionalized ANYTHING to live my life in a caring manner. So…. don’t cry for me Argentina…. I can handle my life MYSELF…. and for those who want a more “spiritualized” approach, I say: Merry Christmas… :0)

    • Alice

I strongly uphold people’s legal right to believe in spirits, leprechauns and so on.

At the same time, christianity and other anti-scientific religious beliefs, and the use and promotion of group ritual, and following the leader based on peer pressure and discouragement of questioning and dissent in churches, are not benign. These beliefs and practices are being spread around the world, coerced on children and people in need, are used to decimate indigenous cultures, increase church profits and power, rationalize war and genocide, and destroy the climate and environment.

It’s important to expose people to other ideas and views.

I imagine people in religious cults in Colorado who are denied access to media, who may at least see a billboard that leads them to ask questions, or feel supported in their doubts and dismay for the religious hypocrisy of being good out of fear of hell. Or those billboards being seen simply by people who hear only that message every Sunday, and that’s all they ever heard in their homes growing up.

  • David Norbot

There we go. That’s a good Xmas banner. It doesn’t beat it’s chest in an aggressive manner as if to say, “Come at me bro!” like past years did.

    I approve of this message.

    • http://jaimegandarilla.tumblr.com/ Jaime Gandarilla

Uhm… Every Christian sentence ever uttered is a “come at me” one, if you found “Leave the myth” as offensive, you’re cray

      • David Norbot

My point was, in the past, the signs have always came across as aggressive and hostile. One can agree with the message, but not agree with “how it was said”.

I’d like to see American Atheists save the hostility for the Christians, and use a more calm approach. I feel that this year’s banner does that, which I approve of.

and “Every Christian sentence ever uttered is a “come at me”…” Seriously? Every single one in all of time? If that’s how you think, then I’m not the crazy one…

    • Robert Hip

You call that good? I think it is a very cheap way of how to deliver a message.

Santa has nothing to do with church. He is not the final judge of whether you are ‘good’ or not. Besides, the thief on the cross wasn’t good, but Christ said he’d be with him in paradise. It’s never been about being good or bad; it’s Satan’s biggest lie because it works! Christ wants our hearts, not our good works. It’s about his love for us & our love for him.

    • This Ain’t Kyle

not Satan! Oh no not him! So scary – I better go to church and get my Jesus cookies! Nothing like celebrating the ol’ human sacrifice of Jesus to make me feel all washed clean of my sinful ways.

      • bookman

It seems like you “know all” about the church, but nothing about God. Learn about it first, then reject it.

        • This Ain’t Kyle

Yes – you should learn all you can about Zeus before you reject him as the great and powerful, don’t you think? How about Allah? Did you learn all about him before you decided that the Judeo/Christian god was the one for you?

          • bookman

Aahhh…as a matter of fact I did, as well as many others, until I found out that Truth is objective and can only be found in Christianity.
Learn and then reject if you must.

          • This Ain’t Kyle

The Objective Truth to be found in Christianity! So good – I’m getting some real gems on this page. Is this for real??

          • smeddy

Tell me objectively why you’re right and I will listen.

      • samuel starks

THIS AIN’T KYLE-it is not Satan you should be afraid of, he did not have the powers to created the universe or you. It is not the church or anyone on earth or death you should be afraid of. You should be afraid of the one powerful Being that place all things together in our universe and all life on this earth. But if you wish to dumb yourself down reject and play the dumb game that no power or Being made you are the universe, then play the dumb game. This is a delusional world you live in with rest of your delusional friends who rejects all gods and the true God the Father who made you. St. Matthew 10:28 tell everyone whom they should fear, God the Father and Christ-Fear not those who is able to destroy the body but not the soul, but fear the one who can destroy both in hell. This is Christ. Oh yes, you don’t believe in the bible right, well I hope you believe in Christ before you die and meet Him.

        • smeddy

Why, specifically, is Christ the one true one? What about one of the thousands of other Gods? What about Aslan? Do you even hear what you’re saying?

          • samuel starks

You are blind because you are not hearing what the bible is saying. Everyone on earth will spent forever in hell,a place of destruction for one reason. You and everyone on earth have sins against God Almighty. Anyone who sins against God, the punishment is eternal death. When people sin you must die for your sins in hell forever or someone is holy and pure of sins must die in your place. This I know for a fact, you cannot stop yourself from sinning, try it and you will see. But to get from earth to heaven, you must be holy and pure without sin to come before the God Almighty. The only one who can clean you of your sins and make you holy is the pure blood of Jesus. When you accept Jesus and become saved,Jesus purge and clean you and make you pure so that when you die in Christ holy and pure you can go to heaven and stand and live in the present of a holy and righteous God.

          • smeddy

You are as brainwashed as the best of ISIS. Its embarassing to see such misplaced passion in 2015.

          • samuel starks

You should be embarrassed at yourself, because you are the one who has walked away from your Creator,Jesus. Not Me. Jesus knows me because I have a saving relationship with Him. What you said is stupid because again it is coming from a spiritual blind man. ISIS killed and they say they are Muslim. I am not a Muslim and never will be. Because they follow Muhammad. a MAN WHO NEVER HAD SPIRITUAL POWERS-I follow Jesus Christ who not only had the powers to heal the sick and raised the dead, but also raised Himself back from the grave. I follow Jesus, who has the power to give life and raised people back from the grave and give them eternal life. I follow someone who has the power of God in Him, Muhammad did not have that power. Muhammad could not raise an ant back from the grave.

          • smeddy

            Bahaaaa how’s your standup career?

You do understand, don’t you, that if you replaced the word [JESUS] in what you write with anything – [ASLAN], [ZEUS], [ODIN] – you’d be the one laughing laughing or acting with scorn.

Faith in a purpose to the universe is wonderful. Curiosity and a hope that there is a purpose to life is beautiful.

But treating it as your favourite football team is embarrassing.

          • samuel starks

Hey SMEDDY- You can lead the horse to the water, but you cannot make him drink. All we saved can do is warned you and let you know how to get to heaven, the rest is up to you.

          • smeddy

Ditto back to you. How about some open mindedness, tolerance and forgiveness of others, and a touch of critical thinking. Or, you know, keep feeling deluded at a fairytale.

          • samuel starks

SMEDDY=You do not set the path to heaven God does. He has set one path to heaven, now people take it or leave it. This decision will be left to all the people to make. But God is not going to change His mind for you or me. We have to change because He will not.

          • smeddy

            Ah.
So he gives us free will and punishes us if he dont follow his way.
The main requirement is not being a good human being, its belief in him.
Hea gives us an open mind and then asks us to be closed minded.
            He is vengeful.
Got ya. Your specific God is the Old Testement God. You know there’s a sequel right?

          • samuel starks

Mr. smeddy. You want to know all these answers but yet so many of you reject to read the bible, and wondered why you do not have the answers. The fact is this- God made a perfect world. There were no sin in the world. place of peace. There was no pain in the world or evil. God the Father was able to talk to Adam and Eve. Even among the animals there were peace. Adam and Eve was able to communicate with the animals. Adam and Eve had a protected force around them where they could not get cut or bruise. They were protected against heat or cold. They live in paradise until the day that Adam and Eve sinned against God-once they sinned,Adam and Eve or mankind were kicked out of paradise. This was when hell, death, pain, suffering and everything else enter into the world.Because of Adam and Eve sins, their children(us)have inherited this sinful nature. Make a long story short, to solve this problem God has sent Jesus to be our Savior and thru our Savior He will not only give us eternal life but He will restore mankind relationship with God the Father. Christ will restore earth the way it was before sin, pain, hell, suffering came into this world. Then He will place mankind once again back into a new paradise. This is why Jesus Christ has a second coming unto this world.

          • smeddy

I have read The Bible many times, indeed I went to Church for 10 years, before I began to find it a bit insulting to the human intelligence to take myths as facts.
So you literally believe in Genesis? In Adam and Eve? Not as a parable but as fact? And you live your life by that?
The only thing missing in these discussions is your objectivity.
I’m off to work in a homeless food shelter now. I will serve people of all colours, all religions, all ages and all walks of life, and provide them with a bit of human contact.
Or I could shout at people on the Internet about how they will burn in Hell because they don’t believe the exact religion I do.

          • samuel starks

Mr. smeddy-You don’t have to believe in all the information in the old testament or the new testament. Many of my brothers and sisters in Christ may disagree on many things. Even some of my brothers in Christ disagree about hell sometime. But there is one thing we all agree and that is the only way to heaven is thru Jesus Christ. This is something that all Christians,Messianic Jews and Gentiles saved, all agree by scriptures-Only thru Jesus we can get to heaven. Many saved brothers and sisters in Christ don’t preach about hell, they may talk about eternal death .Many of my brother and sister in Christ only talked and preached about heaven and never mention the other place. But Jesus Christ our savior did mention hell a lot more than heaven in his sermon. Because most of the people He was preaching to were rejecting Him. So He warned them of the other place. But if some of my brother and sister in Christ feel uncomfortable in talking about hell then they should not. As long as they are talking about Jesus and how to get to heaven, that is enough. Why I talked about hell. Because there are people of the edge of becoming a serial killer or rapist, or on verge of killing someone. They are filled with hate and want to kill someone. Many young people want to be in a gang and want to be bad. Some of these people will not stop and listen if you just talked about Jesus. Because many of these tough, hard core young guys think Jesus is a whip. But many of them stop and listen when you tell them they can go to hell. They stop and listen then because no one want to go to a very hot hell. You see some of these tough, bad guys that were heading down that bad road turn and stop and some became saved. Because they do not want to go to hell when they die.Again, If people tell others or not about hell, it is real and so is the lake of fire. So is heaven and so is God the Father and Jesus Christ.

  • Chantal Lester

As much as you think this is wildly refreshing, Jesus spent a majority of his ministry outside of the temples. You can take Christ out of Christmas and even most Christians are aware the historical melding of two religious beliefs to form the holiday..but you won’t be able to take Christ OUT.

  • Tony

Anybody know the address/location of the billboard in North Carolina?

The Atheists don’t believe in God but they do believe in Santa Claus.

    • Chad Murphy

I at least Santa is loosely based on a person that actually existed.

      • awaken7777

St. Nicholas – who happened to be a Christian (bishop) known for his piety, charity and kindness. So he also demonstrated the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    • samuel starks

NO COMMENT-That surprised me too. Many atheists can believe in a person who does not exist, but they cannot believe in Christ, God who does exist-

    • SiteNook

      No we don’t.

  • ChrisMax

Bravo! Love the billboard it’s a very positive holiday message. I have never considered Xmas anything but a holiday for everyone that was hijacked and twisted by the radical Christians.

  • AirstreamStyle

Proud to have one in NC! I may have to take the 45 minutes to drive up and see it! Beats looking at christmas lights.

  • M. Green

I understand the position taken by the Atheists living a life striving for goodness without God. I too believe in separation of church and state but guess what? It’s already in the constitution. What I don’t understand is the apparent hatred towards the Christian community. If you don’t believe then what do you care others celebrate Christmas or go to church? I mean, would it kill you if Merry Christmas is printed on a coffee cup? Really? Why the hate?

    • prinefan

Religion is the originator and the master of hate. Ask them.

      • nick

We Christians are not masters of hate. We are told not hate anyone not even our enemie . If u met a hateful christian they do not teach the true word

        • prinefan

No true Scotsman, but religion starts with craziness=god, and breeds more craziness. Point that out to khriztians , they get embarrassed, angry and hostile. Their true colors show thru. Religion can’t hide that.

        • Alice

Have you read the bible lately? It’s horrifying, and promotes hate (and stonings!) against almost everyone.

    • Ameretsu

The only way evil preservers in this world is if those able do nothing to stop it, or something like that. O
n a coffee mug wouldn’t hurt, but neither would Happy Holidays, acknowledging there is more than one holiday this season, and some “coffee cup christians” get pissed about that too. So its not that atheists or agnostics hate christianity, its the fact its been shoved down our throats from childhood, through our school days and into adulthood and some of us are fed up with it.
Nothing changes if you don’t do anything about it and the stereotype that you can’t be a good person without god is damaging to society, this is just a reminder that no, you don’t need a god or religion to be a good person.
It wouldn’t kill us to have Allah Akbar on a freaking coffee cup either but suggest that at your local town meeting and see how well it goes.

      • edwords

(Don’t you love it?) “It’s already in the Constitution.”

        Like religiopaths don’t ignore it?

      • Alice

I’d like a mug of Happy Holidays. And a fleece jacket (women’s 4x) with at stitched on it (small, on the left, as a tasteful monogram, instead of a little alligator..)

    • edwords

It’s not hate at all. Religiopaths have to be threatened with court suits
all over the country to stop pushing their beliefs into public schools and courts.
Often, Jews and many Christians support the law suits. Christians don’t own Christmas.

      ‘Coffeegate’ is Starbuck’s problem.

If you want to see hate,(and terrible grammar), read the mail that is sent to atheist groups.

      • phreedm

Christians don’t own Christmas…??????…HAHAHAHAHAHA. I’d agree if you said the “Holidays”…but Christians don’t own Christ-mass…HEHEEHEHE. Rich….glad to see how our educational dollars are being wasted.

So I guess ChristMASS is just for Catholics.

          HEHEEHEHE.

        • Briana

Christmas is based on a pagan holiday, Yule. Jesus’ birth was moved so it would be easier to make pagans to convert to their religion. Everything from decorating the tree to hanging mistletoe is based off of pagan traditions. So technically, Christmas isn’t owned by christians.

          • Alice

Yes. Yule was hijacked by the pope. Happy Yuletide! Merry solstice!

        • nick

Techinally we Christians aren’t supposed to celebrate it because its pagan

    • shawn

What hate? Educating people that they have the power to free themselves from tradition and from a religion that has a history of intolerance toward those that do not believe in their magic sky god is not hateful.

Because Christmas is not everyone’s holiday. Why do you consider an inclusive greeting like Happy Holidays to be hateful? It includes your holiday. Would you be OK with Starbucks only having cups that said Happy Yule? Why are so many Christians upset about an inclusive greeting that includes other values or beliefs than their own? Because those Christians are intolerant.

  • Hans

Will you hypocrites do one for Muslims? I didn’t think so.

    • This Ain’t Kyle

They should. I would support that.

    • prinefan

It applies to all religions. They are all based on the same craziness.

    • Ameretsu

Well I haven’t seen a petitions to put Allah Akbar on starbucks cups, but let me know if they do!

  • Robert Hip

Why Atheists use the word Holiday? Shouldn’t they use Happy Festive Season rather then holiday?

    • This Ain’t Kyle

Not sure. No I think the “Holidays” will exist long after people stop believing in mythical deities – it’s just a nice time of year, winter slows things down, good time to think back on your year, plan for the next – etc.

  • B Jones

I love it! I get pressured ever year to go to church on Christmas eve even though I’m not religious person.

  • This Ain’t Kyle

lol so great. I will skip church, in fact!

  • prinefan

Of course religion doesn’t like the billboards. No con artist likes having their scams exposed and challenged.

  • JosephEngel

Does anybody here realize how stupid this is? And how it rings of inconsideration as well as desperation? This is why no one wants atheists in charge of anything, most of you only have one mode of thought.

    • Gsurfah

It would be refreshing to have atheists in charge of lots of things and not have everything run by religious groups! I went to step sons football end season school awards party (at the school) they had everyone circle up and hold hands and said a prayer to Jesus… they thanked Jesus for his help doing their best thru their losing season etc, asked Jesus to make the food that I and everyone else brought to be safe and nourishing ( like our potluck food was spiked with poison to make our kids sick) all that b.s. It was really pretty insulting that I had to experience this kind of ridiculous religious behavior in a school function. What do you do in that situation??? No one is keeping church out of schools here. Bring that billboard to Hawaii please.

  • samuel starks

This is amazing that atheists believe in a Santa Claus who is not real, but do not believe in Christ or God who is real, go figure. One day they will discovered that their belief is backward, and that is their main problem. Almost like people who want to ride into town on the cart, but do not believe in horses. Always have things backward. One thing is true that religions were not planted by God,Christ. But by men or people. God the Father is THE TRUTH, and He sent His Son,Jesus Christ, to earth to reveal the Living Truth to a lost world. This is the reason why Christ is good news, because thru Jesus Christ all lost soul can get to heaven thru Him.

    • thunderstroke

      What?

Do you need someone to explain what the billboard means?

      • samuel starks

Thunderstroke-If you are an atheist I don’t want you to explain anything to me, not until you find Jesus to be your Savior.

        • thunderstroke

Well you clearly are misunderstanding the situation, as proven what you said earlier.

          • samuel starks

Thunderstroke-If you are an atheist then you clearly misunderstand who and what the True God really is and all your lost atheist friends. When it come to Christmas, it is all about Christ and His death on the cross. All the focus should be on Christ. Not money, fake Santa Claus the red nose rein deer, or anything else. This is about Christ being wrap up in flesh, and sent to earth as present from God the Father to us. To save us from eternal death. So thru Christ all people can be saved from eternal death. This is the only way to get into heaven. So when people wrap a present up and give to others, we are symbolizing what God the Father has done for us to save our souls.

          • thunderstroke

You just assumed the entire situation in the article.

What I believe, according to the Bible, is not relevant.

          • samuel starks

Sorry, I disagree-The bible is relevant for everything going on earth today. The bible is the message from God the Father who is the source of all life in the entire universe. Jesus Christ is the Chief Spoke man for God the Father. What He said is written down in the New Testament.

          • thunderstroke

It’s irrelevant to how you are misunderstanding the billboard.

I don’t remember reading about Santa in the bible.

          • samuel starks

You read about Santa all the time in the bible. Santa is no different than all these false religions that Satan uses to lure people away from the true God God placed the truth upon the earth and Satan comes along with his false prophets and teachers either tries to add to God’s written words or take away from God’s words or tries to change Christ’s words or get people to deny God’s words. Every Christmas many people across the world tell their children about a fake being name Santa, rather than telling their children what real CHRISTMAS is all about.Once the children do find out ,perhaps from a third person the truth about Santa, their parent may loses all credibility of the truth. It is about Christ, not a fake person. But Satan want to keep Santa alive because, for many, it takes the conversation away from Christ and talked about a fake being that many atheists my like.. Guess what, Satan likes that too. So atheists and Santa, I should say, atheists and Satan have that in common, they prefers to talked about Santa rather than Christ.

          • thunderstroke

How do you know your religion is the right one?

Also, Christmas was a Roman pagan holiday, it only became affiliated with Christianity after the Saturnalia festival was adopted by the Catholic church.

            Please research before you post.

          • samuel starks

Sound just like an atheist, You are so blind you cannot tell the different between religions and the truth. Seek the truth, and you will find it, Jesus Christ and only ways you are anyone else will get to heaven is thru Jesus Christ. Not the pope, priest,Mary,Buda Muhammad or Allah, or yourself. Seek and you will find, Jesus has made the way for those that follow the righteous path.

          • thunderstroke

And you blindly believe Jesus is the only way, because a 2000 year old book, which we don’t even have the originals of, says it.

With that logic, I could say the only way to be successful photographer is to believe in Spiderman, based on the comics.

            See the faulty logic?

          • samuel starks

Let us go step by step here. Biblical scholars and Historians can prove that there was a man by the name of Jesus Christ that live almost 2000 years ago. Some of these biblical scholars and Historians as I told someone else are atheists. Step two. The Biblical Scholars and Historians know Jesus existed because of Historical records. What they don’t know is what Jesus did doing His life. Now, we know what Jesus said and did because of the Apostles and others who were around Jesus during that same period. They wrote down what He did and said. He show the people of that time the power He had and also He show them that He does not lie. This mean that hell is real, the lake of fire is real. Demons, fallen angels, eternal death is real. But also angels are real. God the Father is real. Heaven is real..Eternal life is also real. I tell you atheists this all the time, maybe it will stick in some of your heads. God will live forever. He is not going anywhere. God is not going to stop being God because you rejected Him. You and all other who rejected Him your lives will come to an end. Because God has all power, you have no power at all. I mean you need water, food, air, and many other things to keep you alive each day. We all are dependent on God, but it just that some of us to ignorant to see it. Another thing, Biblical Scholars and Historians will tell you that Spiderman is fake, not real. They will tell you that Jesus Christ is real. For as logic is concern, people who rejected their Creator and Maker cannot be classified as having logic. People rejected their Creator is foolish and blind.

          • This Ain’t Kyle

“They wrote down what He did and said.” Not until hundreds of years later. No written record, and the Miracles didn’t appear until the later gospels – just as you’d expect a Myth to grow over time.

          • samuel starks

Oh please, they wrote the information down and much later all these letters were collected. So Oh please-If you don’t want to come to Jesus that is up to you-but please don’t tell your lies that He does not exist.

          • This Ain’t Kyle

All these letters were collected? No. You mean oral stories, passed down between illiterate / superstitious Iron-Age peasants, who had a vested interest in inflating the stories/miracles/mythology, who passed them to Saul/Peter who had never met Jesus ever in his life, who wrote them down. Then later Matthew and Luke were written by other people who never met Jesus. Then even later John was written, which happens to be the one with all the Miracles in it – funny how all this time had gone by, giving time for the stories to grow and grow with each retelling… Face it man, the bible is just an interesting old book written by primitive people. We should study it just like we study Greek Mythology – and with the same approach. To consider it real is simply to deceive yourself.

          • Gsurfah

Wonderfully put! There is no physical evidence of Jesus AT ALL, infact these historians and bible scholars(???) lets just say Christians supporting Christianity, the Christians have been in charge of keeping records throughout he past 1700 years or so? They haven’t ever had or found anything physical to prove Jesus even was really a man and not myth? They wrote, changed and made up as much bullcrap as they could to make their stories convincing and as technology has grown the stories of old and the beliefs of old have all been debunked by good ole science. Our age of logic and reason and technology just doesn’t have any reason to take these myths serious any longer, Jesus didn’t come back and he is not ever coming back and God has done nothing to help or hinder life on earth since before he was invented by the primitive mankind desperately seeking answers to things in life they could not understand. This Starks guy is creepy with his bible stories of hell and fire, I don’t think he should be allowed around children.

          • SiteNook

Also, if you map it out, the journey is crazy, and they keep saying oh it’s this town over here. Every new dig reveals a new “birthplace of Jesus”. That’s one elusive magic baby. Anyways the Pope admitted Jesus never existed about 8yrs ago.

          • SiteNook

Jesus did not exist. Even the Pope has said that.

          • Vicki

thunderstroke, the reason why I am many others turn to Jesus is simply for forgiveness of sins. Some people just want to be forgiven. Also, in my experience, going to church doesn’t make you a good person. It’s about true repentance of the heart and understanding how bad sin is. It deceives and destroys lives, and some people get so sick of sin they turn to Christ because He promises forgiveness. As far as the bible goes, Jesus testified of the old testament scriptures, mentioning Noah, David, Solomon and Jonah. Personally, Jesus gives me great hope for eternal life and I love Him.

          • thunderstroke

I respect your right to believe what you believe, it’s just the person above keeps using an ultimatum to scare people into it, rather than people think about it.

          • SiteNook

I don’t think it’s a good idea to respect their right to believe. It’s about magic and hate and splitting people into groups of Us and Them. I respect nothing about “Religious Values”.

          • thunderstroke

No, religion does that, despise that, not the people right to believe what they want to.

That includes your right to have a lack of belief.

You can still despise religion, but you should still respect their right to believe what they want to believe, dubious as it may seem.

People will be more willing to listen if you first are respectful of their thoughts, it doesn’t mean you have to agree with the source.

          • SiteNook

Well, I don’t. If you believe in magic, I do not respect you as an adult.
If you believe green is better than yellow, I’m ok with that. That kind of belief is fine. But changing school books because you believe in fairies is not acceptable to me. Saying you believe the world is 6kyrs old is not either. If you post these views, I will mock you in public.

          • thunderstroke

That’s not people having religious views, it is people imposing their views on others.

          • thunderstroke

I guess my point is, you should respect someones views. It is fine to have your own views, it is not fine to impose it on other people.

That is where I draw the line. That being said, you should show respect to the people not imposing their views on others, and to the ones that are, try to reason with them.

          • SiteNook

That’s a lot of “Thou shalt”s. You should refrain from telling people what to do.

          • thunderstroke

I never said you will, I said you should. It wasn’t an imposed rule, it is advice.

You don’t have to take it, I’m just asking that you consider it.

Because it’s easier for people to listen when you don’t only resort to mocking people, you can still get your point across, and have it considered, if you don’t come off like that.

          • SiteNook

But you are ignoring the audience. The people I would be talking to would not be reasonable, and open to discussion, you see?
In such a case, you can either do nothing or go for shock value, IMO.

          • thunderstroke

            Understood.

          • Raymond Sena

SiteNook,I have read most of your post about God existense and I find it quiet sad that you say all these things. The gadgets, machines and equipment we use are all designed by someone,it will be absurd if someone told me they all just pooped up from nowhere the same way the world was designed by someone,it did not come about by means of big bang or any other means. No one could really tell you who God really is unless you diligently seek him.No one was really able to tell me who God is until I started asking questions when I was very little.I did not know God existed but He told me things that shifted my whole paradym He sees you ,hears you, love you but to know Him you need to get close to him. There is no magic involve in this at all.what you have to do is speak to Him,ask him questions just like anyone else but in humility not in arrogance.God loves you more than you can imagine.God bless

          • SiteNook

You are deluded. You see, I know people who make gadgets, and I build and program computers, so these things are not mysterious to me.
The questions you had as a child were childish ones, and the fact that a god sounded likely to you as a child is no confirmation of anything. There is magic involved if you think saying something out loud makes things happen, or influences anything. It’s the definition of magic, in fact.
I hope one day you can try looking at the world as if gods don’t exist (after all, you asked me to imagine your world, right?). Just live a year without imagining god is making changes in your life, just accept whatever comes as a natural event and not “caused” by anything. If you hear a mysterious noise at night, pretend it’s just a tree in the wind, not a ghost. If something good or bad happens, chalk it up to random chance (just as an experiment) and not a gods will. Nothing bad will happen to you, I promise.

          • Raymond Sena

look buddy,i don’t want you to come to a conclusion that God does not exist.Take your time and search properly and try to know if God exist or not.Things will always be a mystery to you if you don’t try to find the one behind the mystery. You are a computer programmer so you think logically but logic does not solve everything and there are a lot of things that scientist don’t have answers to.Trying to think God or evil does not exist will not make it go away or seize to exist. All that is happening around us has been predicted in the bible many years ago.I can pretend not to care about what is happening in the world but it is still happening and will continue to happen so what should i do,what if it eventually catches up with me,should i keep ignoring it then good things will happen. One thing you don’t know is mankind was made perfect without blemish until sin set in.We were made flawless until sin flawed us that is why there is a lot of problems in the world today.Politicians,Presidents,PM’,wall streets etc they promise us so many things and we see them as our saviour but they make things difficult for all of us because they don’t really care about us,they have backup plans if things go wrong.Do you have a backup plan?why would some of these people do this to us because (sin, evil) is in the world. The bible tells us to love one another,do good to each other, help the poor, pray for your enemies etc but all of these sometimes becomes difficult without God’s help.Just like electricity powers stuff to make it function even though we can’t see electricity.Years ago people thought electricity was magic, bulb,AC DC was magic but now we realise it is not magic at all.God is not magic but will remain magic to you if you refuse to find him.I will tell you again,He is closer to you than you think just reach out to him.As smart as you are you should even try to discover if He really exit or He is some kind of magic because He is no magic to me.God bless.

          • SiteNook

No, you are wrong, as there is no sin. You are not a sinner. I know you’ve been told you are since you were very very young, and it is hard to “unlearn” that, but it’s true. There isn’t any magic, and there’s no one counting up your mistakes to hold them against you.
The fact that you make mistakes does not mean someone will punish you for it. That would be you paying twice, once because you made the mistake (sin, in your words) and a second time after you are dead. There’s not fair.

As you say, once people thought lightning was magic, but science explored how it works, and we know it’s not magic. Everything that was thought to be magic, has eventually been looked at and proven to be natural. Every single time. It has NEVER been magic. So all your pretending that magic exists, is just pretending.
You are too old now to believe the lies of those that raised you. You are an adult out in the world. You are using a computer to send electric words to satellites in space, across the globe. Science works. You are a fool to deny science.
Try to overcome your brainwashing. I have done all I can to point you in the right direction, but you are very stubborn. You were raised by ignorant, small-minded people, and it’s time to realize that.
However, I am done with you. You are a fool and deluded and I can do no more. Please try not to kill anyone, or hurt Atheists. I hate people like you, but you’re not worth buying a bullet for.

          • SiteNook

More crap. You write all these vague phrases that don’t mean anything – but you pretend they do have meaning. Nothing is “predicted in the bible” it’s just a crap book written by men who were ignorant of the working of the world.
You’re views are those of a child, you write like a child, and your ideas are those passed down by generations of women-hating pedophiles with delusions of grandeur.
All I can say is, grow up and stop spouting nonsense fairy tales. You sound ridiculous.

          • Raymond Sena

All you keep writing thinking you know better, you don’t know any better.I understand you want to be in control of your life but You think you are a matured man now so you know better,i don’t know where you learnt that from but what i keep telling you i did not learnt it from no one God made me understand all of it.Everything in the world point to the fact that God exist so you proof to me that there is no God and besides you can abuse me for all you want but i won’t abuse you back.I leave you with this.

            Psalm 14:1-2
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

            John 14:17
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

            1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

            1 Corinthians 1:21
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

            1 Corinthians 1:25
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

          • SiteNook

Well, you are wasting your time. Why not go talk to some other people that beLIEve what you believe, because you can’t tell a thinking person that magic exists – it just doesn’t. Goodbye.

          • This Ain’t Kyle

If you feel guilty for something, you need to request forgiveness FROM THE PEOPLE YOU DID WRONG TO. Don’t make up some fake god who can give you ‘forgiveness’, it’s such a cop out. If you did something wrong, you’ll never feel better until you get forgiveness from the people you did wrong to. That’s the good news of Atheism – that nobody is going to do the hard work of becoming a good person except for YOU.

          • SiteNook

You didn’t sin. Well, I hope you didn’t murder someone, but other than that, you are fine. Sure, you’ve done some bad things (and you know they were bad things, you don’t need ghosts to tell you) and you should try to be better next time, and try to make it up to those wronged, if possible. But there’s no “eternal punishment”. You goofed up – don’t be like that.
You don’t need magic guides to tell you all this, and you can’t get ghosts to forgive you for it. You need to fix what you can, and try to be better. Just like there’s no sin, there’s no magic forgiveness, either.

          • This Ain’t Kyle

The Pope said Jesus didn’t actually exist, about 8yrs ago.

          • smeddy

Jesus probably didn’t exist. And if he did he was probably a kind man of Middle Eastern descent. He probably wasn’t born in December, and he categorically would not have been a Son of God. Please keep myths and fairytales and parables in their right context – simply parables.
It’s disgusting, as has happened to you, that people can be brought up believing in this kind of fiction as fact. It makes you no different to fundamentalists who believe we should behead people who disbelieve in the Prophet.

          • samuel starks

I can easily see you have no knowledge of History. Even smart atheists know that Jesus existed.. You have biblical scholars and Historians and some of them are atheists know and can prove that Jesus existed. You are making atheists look dumb. You have all ready made your decision and yet you do not know all the facts about Christ. Why? Because people who do not care do not seek to find the truth about Jesus. They prefer to live in their dumbness. So, if that is what you wish, then go right on. You cannot find if you don’t seek.

          • smeddy

There’s 7,625 other God candidates out there in the world. I’ll let you know when I get to yours.
I have no doubt a Middle Eastern man called Jesus in the distant past practiced peace and enlightenment. But I have serious issues buying the myths that grew up about him.
In all seriousness, good luck to you. But preaching Hell and sin for those who dont believe is morally dubious.

          • samuel starks

When will you learned . According to you 7,625 gods. Right. There maybe 7,625 fake or false gods out there. There is only one true God. This true God you best get to know while you are alive on earth, because if you do not get to know Him before you die, He has a nice hot place for you, right next to Hitler. As for me, I have a sit in heaven with Jesus Christ because of His shed blood on the cross. I don’t need luck along as I have the blessing of my Savior and Creator and my God my Father. I am sorry to tell you, but luck will not do you any good without God protecting you. You will have no hope or chance at all if you continue rejecting your Creator. Your best hope is to come to Jesus before you die in your sins. Let Jesus become your hope and luck before it is too late.

          • smeddy

Ahhh, I get it, acting superior gets you a seat next to Jesus.
For the love of God (literally), tell me how or why you know have picked the right one? Because it could be a lottery.
Just because (I know I’m making assumptions here) you were brought up with the Bible and/or it’s what your family told you. That’s not a good enough answer.
Telling people they will have a seat next to Hitler because they don’t believe what you have been told to be true… Well if your own superstitions do happen to be true, I think you’ll have some explaining to do.

          • samuel starks

SMEDDY-God is SUPERIOR TO ALL-He is giving us a chance to live with Him forever. He is a God of love and compassion. He did not have to make us and give us the life we now have. Because of the suffering that we all have gone thru because of sins. Those who have been saved on this earth, God the Father will elevate us from created beings or people to His Sons and Daughters of God. Because God want a loving family to live with Him forever. Yes, all of His children will have a sit in heaven right near God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. God the Father has said that He will fix it so that all the joy and love, happiness, peace and respect we get in heaven, that it will not come into our mind the pain and suffering that we have gone thru on this earth. God the Father said He will wipe all tears from our eyes so you never weep again for anything. God will elevate and bless His children with so much. Because God the Father knows only a few will get into heaven. He knows it will be hard and tough to get to heaven. You know why? because the only way that anyone can get to heaven is thru His Son Jesus Christ and no one else. The vast majority of people on earth believe that there are many ways to heaven. Lies! put forth by the evil forces on earth. It is hard to get to heaven because the vast majority of people have already rejected Christ. As for as Hitler, all who rejected Christ will in up in the Lake of Fire forever. This is the place that Satan, demons, fallen angels, serial killers and Hitler and the German army that killed the six million Jews and others-all unsaved will end up in the Lake of Fire. Just read Revelation 20: 11-15 verses. God,Christ are real and Jesus is holding His hands out to you in love and to all unsaved. But He cannot make you take His hand.. This is up to all unsaved to reach out to their Maker and Creator and Savior.

          • smeddy

I mean, you keep saying it, but it doesnt make it true.

Genuinely, check out ‘Conversations with God’ to find out why Hitler WENT to Heaven.

I will keep on saying it because it is in the bible, the book you don’t believe in.. Not just me but the millions of saved children of God around the world. It is their responsibility to get this message out unto the world, just as Jesus and His disciples got that message out to the world during that period. So when people die in their sins, they cannot stand before God and say that they never heard the Gospel. This Gospel shall be preached unto all nations for a witness to the nations. Hitler was evil. all evil go to Hell.Hitler is dead. Don’t worry about Hitler, worry about yourself. Where are you going once you die?

          • smeddy

I have absolutely no need or desire to worry in that regard. When I die, that is it, or alternatively there is a wonderful and surprising afterlife, and I have no qualms in facing that. I’ve led a good and kind life.

          • samuel starks

I’m sorry to tell you what the bible says that your righteous is a filthy rag in the sight of God. Apostle Paul thru the Holy Spirit said that we all have sin and fall short of the Glory of God. I said earlier about the Queen of England. If a man does good works-helps the poor-give a lot of his money to the needed-even if he goes to church every Sunday. But he has not taking a bath in two years The queen or the President still would not want to meet him until he clean himself up. The Same with God. If your best good friend come to your beautiful house. You open the door and the stink from him, you can smell it a mile away. He tells you he fell into a hog pin and got hog,mud and hog dung all over his body.

He does not want to come in and take a bath,he want to sit on your bed, couch and spread his mud,hog dung and stink all over your house. Would you let Him in ,since he is a good person? I say you would not. You will tell him go home and clean yourself off and then he can come back over later, After he has clean himself off. Christ is not going to allow anyone into heaven unless they have been clean from their sins. This is why Jesus has to come to die on the cross. So thru his blood we all can be clean and purge from sins. Those that turn to him are saved and clean-this is called the grace of God giving unto the world for those that accept Jesus Christ. Those that rejected Christ are rejecting the grace of God.

          • smeddy

You really are a terrible human person.

            And of course I would.

          • samuel starks

You tell that to God, because He will not let you into heaven unless you are clean of sin.

          • smeddy

            He doesn’t exist tho

Dude this Samuel Starks guy is way out there – believes in the JesusBunny and everything. Do you really think he’s got a firm grasp on reality?

          • thunderstroke

            Honestly, probably not.

          • samuel starks

Mr. A. Kyle -A spiritual blind person asked if I am out there? Mr. Thunderstroke responded by saying like I am out there. Jesus gave a story once-Jesus said that the blind leading the blind both shall fall into the ditch. Like a story I heard once about a blind man standing on street corner waiting for someone to lead him across the street safely.. Someone walks up and grabs his hand. They begin to walk across the street when a car came and hit and killed them both. Once the police arrived, they realized that both men were blind. The ditch Jesus was talking about were eternal death and hell. So is Mr Kyle blindly leading Mr. Thunderstroke or Mr. Thunderstroke blindly leading Mr. Kyle? Oh, well it does not matter, because Jesus said that if they do not change both of them will fall into hell together.

          • thunderstroke

If Hell even exists. I don’t trust 2,000 year old manuscripts, which we don’t even have the originals of, to guide my life.

Here’s a question for you. Why is Hell only mentioned in the New Testament?

          • This Ain’t Kyle

It doesn’t exist. Jews don’t believe in it, FYI

          • thunderstroke

I know they don’t, but I suspect Samuel is a Christian, Christians believe in Hell.

          • samuel starks

I’m not just a Christian, but a born again Christian. Look, I am not your enemy. I am trying to bring you and others to Jesus Christ who came to saved us all. You remember Jesus said that-that which is born of flesh is flesh, that which is born of the spirit is spirit. He went on to say, that you must be born again of the spirit. What is Jesus is saying? For people to get on earth, you must be born of the flesh or physical, but to get into heaven we all have to be born again of the spirit to get into heaven. God the Father is spiritual-Christ is spiritual-Holy Angels are spiritual-to live with God forever all people have to born again of the Holy Spirit to live in a spiritual heaven.

          • thunderstroke

You still believe that Hell exists though, which is what I said before.

Isn’t it weird that Hell only shows up AFTER the Old Testament?

You would of thought it would be mentioned somewhere.

          • SiteNook

Doesn’t that sound a little simplistic to you? Isn’t the world more complicated than that?

          • Will

God doesn’t sound very…Godly. He creates humans with the ability and want to commit sin, then punishes them for doing so. He is so self righteous he demands worship every week, and will punish anyone who doesn’t. If this is your God, which it is, he is no one worth a moment of my, yours, or anyone’s time.

          • samuel starks

MR. KYLE-You are wrong again. The Messianic Jews not only believe in Jesus but they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Messiah. If you remember, the Apostles were Jews, apostle Paul was a Jew. So there are Jews that follow Jesus and believe in everything the Bible says including hell.

          • SiteNook

Paul was a Roman. No Jew would write what Paul “wrote”, things like sending their servants to a store on the Sabbath (the servant wouldn’t do it, and the shop wouldn’t be open, you see). It was a characterization on the Jewish cult that was popping up, written by a Roman, for Romans. The whole bible is full of such things, it’s just a compilation of stories told by nomadic sheep herders in the middle of the desert, at a time when man didn’t understand how the sun and moon move, and weather was controlled by demons and gods.

          • samuel starks

If you do not believe in the bible then why ask me a question about the new testament when you not going to accept what I say. Hell is real and I am trying to keep you out of it.

          • thunderstroke

Because I am trying to show you that something is off.

Sam,you’re wasting an awful lot of your time here.

          • samuel starks

Mr. EDWORDS-When I am sending out the seed or word of God, I’m never wasting my time. When you throw out corn to the ground, 10 of those birds may not fly to the ground, but at least two or three birds will fly to the ground and eat the corn. When the seed or word of God is sent out over the internet,or where ever some may refuse it, but some will also accept it-So I am never wasting my time.

Only in religion, do the inmates pity the escapees!

          • samuel starks

Mr. EDWORDS-If you are an atheist. you and me are living in a total different world. You are living in the world of the dead. That is what happened to people who is separated from their Creator. I am alive in God. God is life and all life come from God the Father. There are some atheists I do talked to because they try to make sense about what they believe. But there are people who want to be silly all the time as if life is a game. If they want to be silly then let them be silly with themselves. So I already know that the vast majority of people on earth today are on the broad road which lead to eternal death, just as Jesus prophecied that they would be. Only a few are on the narrow road which lead to eternal life. So I know that the vast majority of people will reject Christ, so there is no surprised to me.
In your statement you made about religion. All religions are made by men or people, not by God. God the Father is the TRUTH. When God send a message down to us upon this earth, it is the truth, not a religion. What people do not understand is that once people reject His truth sent to us, we are doing the same thing that earlier man did rejecting Him. If we reject His massage we are rejecting Him. If we reject the one who was sent to delivered His message,Jesus Christ, then we are still rejecting God the Father and yes He is alive and well. I just talked with Him today along with many other people.

Hell! Oh my. Which version of hell? The Judeo-christian version? The Muslim version? How about the ancient Greek version? So many stories it’s hard to get them all straight.

          • samuel starks

Hell in the bible is located in the underworld, or the core or the center of our earth. There is three places located in the bible, that is located in the underworld. One of those places is hell. Once a person dies on earth and that person is lost-his soul will still be alive and taken into the underworld and that soul will be placed into hell to suffer until the Great White throne Judgement day of the wicked. This is in Revelation 20:11-15 verses. The Son of God, not God the Father, Jesus Christ will judge the wicked because they have rejected their Creator and refused God grace. Because they have refused God grace(Jesus) every sin they have done.. God will judge them without no mercy. Then after God’s judgement upon the wicked, then as it state in Revelation 20:15 verse, all the wicked will be cast into the Lake of Fire-The lake of fire is not located on earth, it is located somewhere out in deep space. All this information is in the bible and it was placed there by God.

          • SiteNook

I believe the Lake of Fire bullshit was added AFTER Dante’s Inferno. Before that there was no reference in the bible. You are looking at a King James version, after the massive rewrite he commissioned in London. He had six different groups submit various manuscripts and they chose which bits to include.

Why would a blind man run into the street? That story doesn’t make any sense. Surely, you can see that a blind man at a busy intersection
            1. Isn’t there hoping someone will help him. He would have someone or stay inside, if he couldn’t cope. Blind people walk around cities a lot, maybe you’ve never met a blind person?
            2. Why would this blind guy who is so intent on suicide just grab the arm of the nearest person and drag them in the road? That would never happen either. I mean what is his mindset? Is he thinking that a random person is sure to be NOT blind – that faulty thinking, as evidenced by him being run over. Plus who goes with someone who, at an intersection – clearly a busy (hence noisy) one, that grabs them by the arm. The natural reaction is to pull away and stand fast. It’s impossible for me to conceive of a blind man (the one standing still) would just automatically go with the first person who grabs and pulls his arm without discussion. There’s bound to be a conversation. I mean these are not children, they are men who live in the world and know how to walk to their destination.
So, you’ve made up a story, or heard an “urban legend” (an unlikely story that happened to a friend of a friend, “I swear it’s true”). You’ve now told the story as an allegory (a story with a moral), also called a fable. If you were now to write that down in a book, you’d have a Good Book full of allegories. Stories with hidden, or overt morals associated with them. So you see, that’s how the Bible was created.

          • samuel starks

This dude Samuel is a part of a family of spiritual born again children of God. They have the Holy Spirit in them that make them one group that have been called out by God Almighty. Just as God of the Old Testament called out the Jewish people to be His people at that time. The Gentiles at that time thought that the Jewish people were strange people. Jewish people were to be different than any group of people on the earth. All the Jewish people were told to be circumcised. Once Jesus died on the cross and went back to heaven, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit fell and begin to live in only those that believe and been saved thru Jesus Christ. Now, all people who accept Jesus, Jews and Gentiles, can be saved and become His Children. Only people who have the Holy Spirit in them today are God’s Children. All who do not,Jews or Gentile, circumcised or not circumcised- No holy Spirit not saved. Holy Spirit in them; they are saved. This is the only way to get to heaven is thru His Son Jesus Christ. The Old Testament told us that Jesus the Messiah was coming. The New Testament shows us that He has come and the New Testament is tell us what we must do to be saved. For as me out there, some would say you are out there. Anyone who does not have a relationship with there Creator and does not believe in the one who made them have to be far,far out in deep space out there.

God, Christ is real, Santa is not. God loves you and made you. Santa did not. Christ died for you on the cross so you can have a chance to have eternal life. If you reach out to Jesus and accept His hand and trust in Him. Every now and then a person is pick to come out on the basketball court and shoot from half court. They got one chance to make 25,000 dollars to make one shot in their life time. Some people make the shot and some do not. You have about 7.3 billions of people on earth today. These people have being giving one life on earth, to seek and find and truth. Once they find the truth, they mush accept Him and follow Him. They only have this life, one shot to find and follow their Creator. If they do not find their Creator at the end of their lives, they will never get another chance. Many people on earth is not taking this seriously, playing games. God is taking this very seriously, because He is prepared to give be eternal life and He is prepared to send people to everlasting damnation. Christ is the way and only thru Him can anyone go to heaven.

        • smeddy

Writing loads doesnt make it any righter. God and Jesus do not exist, at least in any kind of concept we can imagine. If you wish to believe you are guilty of some sin, you are welcome.
For me, “do unto others as you would have done to you” is perfectly innate truth, I dont need superstition around it to try to force different behaviour through fear.

          • samuel starks

When a spiritual blind person speak you can tell he is in the darkness. When will people like you learn. God is life. All life that you feel all around you. Insect life-plant life-birds life-animals in the sea-animals that walk on earth. All life come from a source-this is common sense. All things come from a source. God is the source of all life. If you allow yourself to be disconnected from the source you cannot continue to live. Just as simple as that. The Source of all life will allow you to live out the rest of your days or years upon this earth, but if you do not before you die connect yourself to Him.The Source of all life, then you will die. No one can live, once they leave earth, without being connected to the Source. Try running your car without an engine. Try burning paper without fire. Jesus is the extension cord that is already plugged into the Source of all life,God the Father. Jesus is waiting to plug the other side of the cord into whosoever come to Him. For the wages of sins is death, but the free gift of eternal life is in and thru Jesus Christ.

As I read the comments about church I wonder why American Atheist are against the church. The church provides clothing, food, water filters to people in other countries and provides education services around the world. The church uses money from its parishioners to further these social services activities. Again why the hatred for Christians and the church? Do Atheist groups provide social services to others? I’m still looking on this website to find where money is being given to non-profit organizations to help people in need.

    • edwords

It’s not hate, it’s fear of religion dominating the country.

Does religious charity make up for its brainwashing kids?
Or the suffering endured by the terminally ill
due to its support of euthanasia laws? Or the violence?

    • SiteNook

Well, you’ll need to try Google, not Disqus to find Atheist organizations. We give to many causes. Being intelligent people we also vet the charities, so we’re not just throwing money into ones with the biggest, most golden cross. You see the money you give to to your religious captains actually goes to buy homes, cars, clothes, advertising, et cetra for themselves. The minimum necessary to not get sued is used for “the poor”, but not all poor people, of course, just ones that they can keep down. They don’t train them, or try to help those “immoral” people jobs and get a shower, or give out an address. No, they give a meal at Christmas because it’s expected, and some rags you wouldn’t wear on a bet. I suggest you look into the spending of your charitable churches.
I assume you are one of the people who gives nothing to public agencies, and want planned parenthood shut down, and refugees to go elsewhere. I also suspect you don’t actually donate anything to anyone, ever.

      • Danny

I noticed in your comments you did not mention what charities you give your money too Sitenook. As like most Atheist groups and you included almost always make hateful remarks toward any religion. Especially Christianity. You seem to forget that you are what less than a percentage point in America who are Atheists and are the” enlighten ones”. Most people ignore you guys because of the seething hate that comes out of mouth usually nothing positive and I’m sure you people don’t give one penny to any organization excepts the ones who promote Atheism. Have you considered North Korea, China, or Vietnam for your future home? Atheists would fit right in any of these countries. That way God is never mentioned. Atheists are full of HATE you are no different. Read your own comments. I suggest counseling in the future for you.

        • SiteNook

My comments were a call for you to research the money spent by any agency you donate to, including any church groups. They are notorious for buying lavish housing, clothes, and cars in order to impress others and live in extreme comfort – these are not the teachings of your religious doctrine.
I don’t need to reread anything – I write from the heart and tell no lies, so I am confident of any and all of my posts.
I have no hate for simple people, such as yourself. Just look at the post you made to me; it is full of hate for me, and others who, like me, don’t beLIEve in magic. I see in your post, to use your phrase, “seething hate that comes out of mouth usually nothing positive”. That sums up your attitude, when someone just says, “Hey, you know the book your reading… it’s just a book, and it’s full of magic and magical creatures, so it’s, like, not real, ya know?” <– not hate.

    Consider this if you please!

    About you
comment, “We want people to know that going to church has absolutely nothing to
do with being a good person,” said David Silverman, president of American
    Atheists.

    And Jesus said
unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that
    is, God. (Matt. 10: v-18.

    Being “good”
according to man’s standards is relatively simple due to justification and
denial. But being good as a Christian is
truly a lifestyle if done according to the Word. Now I’m sure those of you who are professed
Atheists are sitting there right now scoffing at these “truths” but whether you
believe it or not there is a God and
Heaven and a Hell and if one does not accept the ‘fact’ that Jesus not
only created you, He died for you and you may not have ever been told this but
He would have died if YOU were the ONLY person in HISTORY that BELIEVED!!! That is how much Jesus LOVES YOU!!!

    I believe that “you”
as an organization want to be ‘left alone’ to proceed in life as you wish,
correct? Well, as Christians, we would
like the same respect! So why not
refrain from trying to tear down our belief system and concentrate on your
own?! Part of that “be good for
goodness sake” motto you’ve adopted this year, eh?!!! 3But if our
gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the
god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the
light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine
    unto them. 5For we
preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants
    for Jesus’ sake. 6For God,
who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to
give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus
    Christ.

    I would be remiss
though if I didn’t WARN YOU!!

    There is a
flipside!! God is very GOOD, but one must understand and it is hard to wrap you
mind around, is that God is SOVERIEGN.
That means supreme authority without question. What I’m saying and I pray for you to understand
for your eternal ( just think about this word a while, it should get you
investigating ) life is that God can punish however He wishes without
    question. Part of that punishment
system is Hell, whether you believe it OR like it or not, IT WILL HAPPEN!!! If the Bible says it and it does, it will happen. The Bible has been accurate for predicting
happenings thousands of years in the future and they have ALL come true to the
letter and in the right time even with man’s will allowed to be free!! You can’t
humanize God!! The intelligence of God
is unfathomable. I pray you cease your
dislike toward Christians and I pray the God opens your mind and spirit to an
understanding and desire for His Word, which is Jesus. 1In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the
beginning with God. 3All things were made
by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In
him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light
shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. ( Gen. 1: 1-2 )

    MAY GOD BLESS YOU and
    your families.

It is GOD we celebrate, not santa claus.

Well, there’s no magic, and no matter how many word you capitalize, I still can’t be convinced that magic exists. You live a lie and feel strange inside when you hear about people that have never read your books or listened to the lies that they contain, so you lash out.

THERE IS NO MAGIC. NOT NOW. NOT EVER. NEVER HAPPENED. DIDN’T OCCUR.

You people must be scared to death of Christianity and the Bible. You don’t see Christians putting up billboards against Atheism. You put a lot of time and effort into recognizing something you say you don’t believe in lol.

    • SiteNook

What are you talking about? There are billboards all over the country that tell people they are going to Hell. We only say to “Be good, please”.

  • Thinker

Someone on the thread, asked, “Why Jesus?” What makes Jesus different from Zeus, Mohamed, Buddha or anything else? My answer is, the Bible makes logical sense. If you read it, and simply google any questions that come to mind for answers from those who have studied it intensively, it all makes sense when you put it all together Math, time, and the laws of physics, these all give evidence that the objective exists along with the subjective. Truth and truth. If Truth is something you search for, do your due diligence and examine.

There’s no magic, tho. You can’t communicate with ghosts, holy or not.

This is why our country is so screwed up. Our morals are non-existent. We have the LGBT movement shoved down our throats and forced upon our children yet we are not allowed to mention God in school because it is offensive.

    • SiteNook

Because LGBTQ people exist. And God doesn’t; it’s a fairy tale in a book about magical creatures, like unicorns and dragons, talking donkeys, bears that attack children by the dozens, zombies, etc. It terrifies innocent children, who remain scarred and brainwashed for their lifetime. There’s no magic, you see?

In the bible it says not to cut down trees and bring them in your home for its a tradition of your nation so its a pagan holida . However I’ll pray to the LORD that you find him but also the person who said relion is master of hate….Christ told us to love everyone even our enemy, even the ones who persecute us. So the Christians don’t hate anyone. West borough baptist church does not teach the true word

I wish I could skip church… I’m 14 and live with my parents. *sigh* “You’re not an Atheist!” -Dad

It warms my heart to see this billboard every time I go to my dispensary.
